SEO Icons are a way of showing search engine optimization visually. When your SEO company needs to illustrate content, icons are one way of getting that done.

SEO Icons are available free and royalty-free at places like Freepik, the source of these icons.

Why do companies use SEO icons?

Icons help users identify what they need more quickly than words. It’s also helpful in today’s era of multi-lingual backgrounds where one elementary school, for instance, might have students with 60 or 70 languages. The global nature of the internet makes icons a great tool.

Is a Favicon an Icon? What is a favicon?

Even the word favicon is so much fun. A favicon is the little icon on the upper left corner of a website inside of the URL. The right dimension for a favicon is 500X500 pixels. For instance, here’s the SEO for Lead Gen favicon:

If you don’t choose your own favicon, generally one will show up that relates to a commercial interest that isn’t your own. For instance, if you create a post in wordpress, but don’t have your own favicon, the wordpress favicon will show up. In Clickfunnels, also, for instance, you’ll see the CF favicon in the upper left side of your sales funnel or opt-in page unless you replace it manually with your own.

Here’s the SEO Icon for Clickfunnels. If you don’t change a favicon manually, you’ll generally have the company that hosts your website or manages your content as the default

How often do you need to update an icon? Fortunately, SEO Icons are evergreen. You can generally download or have them custom-crafted once and then you can use them forever. Here is an SEO Icon that tells the story — if someone asks “What is SEO?” and you answer “Search Engine Optimization,” their eyes may glaze over. But if you show them an icon, voila! It’s a cool way of communicating.

One of the reasons icons work so well is that images tell stories often better than words. Newspaper editors say a picture is worth 1000 words. I’m pretty sure the Mar-a-lago events involving classified information would never have had as much traction without the classic image of the search for documents image that the FBI shared with the world. What can be learned from this? Take some time to integrate icons into your SEO. Why not? It’s easy and fun.
